This is a Severe Weather update for Wednesday afternoon, November 23rd.
The National Weather Service Severe Weather forecast remains in effect for the State of Hawaii.
A cold front will move down the Hawaiian Islands tonight through tomorrow, Thanksgiving Day. Brief showers followed by a period of very windy conditions and high surf from the northeast is expected.
Strong winds may cause tree damage, power outages, and make driving difficult.
Due to the forecasted high winds, the following are issued;
Camping permits for Thursday for Spencer Beach Park in Kawaihae are cancelled.
Consider moving any planned outdoor Thanksgiving Day events indoors.
Consider postponing hanging any outdoor holiday decorations and securing all outdoor items which may become damaged or airborne.
Due to high surf;
For Thursday, “Park & Ride” on Kamehameha Ave is being relocated to Kuawa parking lot near the intersection of Monono on Kuawa Street.
Those with shoreline property or boats from Upolu Point in North Kohala south through Hamakua and Hilo to Cape Kumukahi in Puna, please take this time to secure your property.
Beaches may closed without notice.
