This is an Eruption update for Friday, December 16th at 7 in the morning.
The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory Volcanic Alert Level for Mauna Loa remains at Advisory level and reports no signs of renewed lava activity.
There is no threat to any communities at this time.
The portion of Old Saddle Road that was opened as a temporary Lava Parking Area is closed.
You are reminded that parking along Daniel K. Inouye Highway designated and posted “No Parking, No Stopping”, and that the Pohakuloa Training Area (PTA) and Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) property ADJACENT to DKI Highway near the lava flow are CLOSED and PROHIBITED from access for your safety.
The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory and Civil Defense will continue to monitor Mauna Loa for any signs of renewed activity.
This will be the last message and update on the Mauna Loa lava eruption.
You will be updated of any changes that affect your safety.
