This is a Civil Defense message.

This is a Severe Weather Update for Sunday, February 19th at 7 in the morning.  

The National Weather Service Flash Flood Watch for the Island of Hawaii remains in effect through today.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions are favorable for flash flooding.  Flash flooding is life threatening.

All Residents in flood prone areas should remain alert for flooding conditions.

The National Weather Service Flash Flood Warning for Ka`u, Puna, Hilo, and Hamakua Districts is canceled. 

As conditions have improved, Hwy 11 at Kawa Flats near the 60 Mile Marker is reopened in both directions.

Roads that remain closed at this time are as follows; 
In Ka`u District – Upper Cane Haul Road (Ka`alahiki) between Pahala and Na`alehu, and Wood Valley Road.

In Hilo District – Old Mamalahoa Highway near Honomu. 

For your safety, Waipio Valley Access Road remains closed to everyone except Waipio Valley residents and farmers. 

The Hele-on Park & Ride pick-up location in Hilo will continue to be at Kuawa Street through Monday.
